During the late 1960s, Printers Alley was centerstage for Nashville's nightlife, and Heaven Lee was its brightest star. Born Vianka de la Prida in Cuba, she moved to Nashville in 1962, and almost immediately became the city's top exotic performer. Her legendary numbers were the hot ticket in town, and she danced a record 52 weeks of nightly shows at the famous Black Poodle.⁠

Not just a pretty face, she used her celebrity to champion many causes of the day, and once even rode a horse-some say in the nude-down James Robertson Parkway to protest environmental policy. Following the gas crisis of 1979, she began commuting to work on her bicycle, often in heels and followed by her personal limousine. ⁠

Heaven Lee retired from the stage in the last 1980s, but her legacy lives on.
